Liberals often claim that the Republican Party is the party of historic racism, but that is a blatant lie easily disproved by facts, according to Emma Capps, a young conservative commentator who uploaded a video Tuesday to Twitter outlining these facts in detail.
One such fact concerned the passage of the 13th Amendment in April 8, 1864. Only 23 percent of congressional Democrats voted in favor of the bill, whereas every Republican made it clear that they believed slavery should not exist in the United States.
Something very similar occurred with the passage of the 14th and 15th Amendments, which granted citizenship and the right to vote, respectively, to blacks. As explained by Miss Capps, zero Democrats voted in favor of either bill, whereas 94 percent of Republicans voted in favor of the 14th and 100 percent voted in favor of the 15th.

Here’s the problem: These facts are usually dismissed because of the belief that a switcheroo occurred in the 1900s, during which time former Republicans became Democrats and former Democrats became Republicans. This too was false.
Citing an infographic produced by filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, Capps showed that barely anyone had actually switched parties:
Fewer than 1 percent of Democrats became Republicans and vice versa — and incidentally the switch had nothing whatsoever to do with race.
“Blacks became Democrats in the 1930s because of the New Deal,” Capps explained. “Southern whites became Republicans from the 1970s through the ’90s as the South was becoming more prosperous.”
“They didn’t switch because of racial issues,” she added “They switched because of economic reasons.”
Why then do liberals continue to lie about the “big switch,” among other things?
“They want the black vote,” she concluded. “And it’s up to you and me to educate ourselves and anyone else we can before the next election, so we can stop the real racists from being elected.”
