Yahoo News: Republican Chairman Says Clinton Wiped Email Server "Clean"

Originally posted at Yahoo News.

Hillary Clinton wiped “clean” her private server that hosted her emails while secretary of state, permanently deleting all correspondence, and did not turn over more of the messages, lawmakers said Friday.

A simmering scandal over Clinton’s admitted use of a private email account for the duration of her four years as President Barack Obama’s top diplomat has threatened to mar a spring rollout of her all-but-certain White House campaign.

“We learned today, from her attorney, Secretary Clinton unilaterally decided to wipe her server clean and permanently delete all emails from her personal server,” House Benghazi Committee chairman Trey Gowdy said in a statement after Clinton’s lawyer wrote to explain why no new emails would be forthcoming from the likely 2016 presidential candidate.

Gowdy had issued a subpoena for all Clinton emails related to Libya, particularly the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans, and formally requested she turn over her server to a neutral third party.

It is unclear exactly when Clinton decided to permanently delete all emails from her server, but Gowdy said it appears to have occurred after October 28, when the State Department first asked her to hand over the records.

In a letter to Gowdy, Clinton lawyer David Kendall wrote that she has already complied with the order to hand over all work-related emails to the State Department.

Now, with that review process complete, “there are no hdr22@clintonemail.com emails from Secretary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state on the server for any review, even if such review were appropriate or legally authorized,” he said.

Reiterating what Clinton herself had conveyed at a press conference earlier this month, Kendall said Clinton and her legal team determined which emails were personal and unrelated to work — nearly 32,000 emails — and deleted them.

The remaining 30,490 work-related emails were provided to the State Department in December at the agency’s request, he said.

Gowdy called Clinton’s permanent deletion of her personal records “unprecedented” and said the committee will work with leaders in the House of Representatives on a path forward.

“But it is clear Congress will need to speak with the former secretary about her email arrangement and the decision to permanently delete those emails,” he said.

The Benghazi committee’s top Democrat Elijah Cummings slammed as a “political charade” Gowdy’s persistent call for emails that have already been handed over, and said the Clinton emails provided to the committee on Libya should be made public and that she should swiftly be scheduled for public testimony.

When my company Arthur Andersen did the same thing in 2001, we were indicted and forced out of business. 80,000 people lost their jobs when our 80 year company lost all its clients. Rather than indicating Hillary, we will make her president.

Because we have more morons per capita than any nation on earth. The dumbing down of America is complete.

Anyone…and I mean ANYONE…that even remotely thinks that this was not an intentional move to deflect proof of wrongdoing and misconduct is delusional! “We have conducted an internal secret investigation of ourselves and can find no improprieties or illegal actions. In fact, after looking closely at ourselves we think we qualify as squeaky clean!” RIGHT…wanna buy a bridge or perhaps some Arizona oceanfront property?

HRC must be taking all necessary steps to ensure she cannot be a viable candidate. If America votes HRC to the White House we as a nation deserve what will follow.

I called this one. I should have wrote it and put in an envelope. I said as soon as they adk for the emails, shell wipe the server clean. In my opinion, shes done more than that. Im sure she has liberal IT specialists tell her that unless you get rid of the hard drive, you cant really totally erase everything. The hard drive and probably the whole PC has been replaced and it was prob.done right after the first hint of the issue. This is what liberals do best! They lie, get away with unlawful acts, push the limit on everything. She has blood and deaths on her record now as well as Obama who has the same in the 6 deaths that were directly related to the search for a deserter. And still, its like nothing? Not even their fingers smacked? Look at Watergate. These recent issues make Watergate look like just another day in the life of a liberal politician.

Great breaking news. Sad times. Mr. D’Souza, please consider donating a copy of ‘America’ to me as I am homeschooling my grandson I adopted 3.5 yrs ago. I have been raising him since he was one and he is now 8. I want him to have a good honest education. Thank you.

Sir, please consider collecting cans from the roadside instead of asking for a handout.. this is exactly the point conservatives are trying to make in my own opinion. Yours is a liberal request and I call you on it.

God bless you and your work and dedication to our great nation. May God continue to bless our nation, and I pray we turn our hearts back to Him. America is great, ultimately because He blessed this nation.

That’s what her lawyer told Trey Gowdy – want to bet it’s just another lie/stall to get more time until another story comes along that makes people forget this story? What would be the penalty for a Jane Doe to do the same thing – ignore subpoenas, lie, delete emails that belong to the State Department, etc. etc.? She’d be in an orange jumpsuit ASAP?

She’s a criminal and should be treated as a criminal. The woman has total disregard for the laws of this nation. She and Bill treated the White House like their own personal playground. She is not qualified to be president and I can’t figure out why she is even in contention. What a joke.

The Democrats have come to consider any and all unethical tactics by their leadership as being just fine and dandy. Hillary Clinton is a ruthless but sloppy candidate and should NEVER be even considered for the highest office in our land. Surely the Democrats can come up with something more appropriate than this lying and dishonest sort.

I know we all appreciate you providing this defined law. With it in mind, we all surely realize that she didn’t personally “wipe the server clean”. Either she had her staff request it, or she had her attorney or other paid third party had it “done”. So, where in the legal world would the responsibilities of these persons and/or businesses be liable for aiding and abetting the (federally illegal) destruction of this widely publicized, possibly top secret email information? Surely they would be co-conspirators in this?

In the future, IF our nation survives this Agenda 21 downgrade to 3rd world status, people will wonder why the heck our law makers (???) had to “ask” for the documents. When the government wants something from the rest of us, citizens, they simple write out an emergency “Search and Seize” warrant and storm the home (or business). What happened to being “equal” here Congress? We, the people, are finally beginning to be openly shown that the Federal Government hierarchy are above the law…. they have to have permission to access evidence. While we live in fear of an unwarranted attack on our homes may occur (in the name of the law), the politicians live in awe of the dreaded “ask” for permission.

What a miserable excuse for a human being. How far we have fallen as a country to even consider such a person for the highest office of the land. It seems like up is down and down is up these days. I’m afraid all of us will pay a terrible price for these past six plus years and the thought of even the possibility of having the Clintons back in the White House. I think the circle of the survival of a democracy is about to come full circle.
