“Capitalists are under fire,” D’Souza says in the follow-up to his hit documentary 2016: Obama’s America.
As D’Souza gets a hot dog from a stand in Manhattan, a symbol of capitalism that he finds as American as the biggest company on NASDAQ, a clip of democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren’s famous living room speech about how no one gets rich on their own plays in the background.
It’s followed by a clip of left-leaning Fahrenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore talking about wanting to change the whole system of capitalism altogether. “If it’s a more comfortable word for you, ‘greed,'” the author and filmmaker declares during PBS’ “Poverty in America” roundtable from 2012. “It’s just another word for it.”
America will open in Houston and Atlanta on June 27, ahead of its nationwide release on July 2.
