Now, a day before the film’s release on DVD and Blu-Ray, the conservative stalwart’s movie is already the no. 1 bestselling DVD on Amazon in the Documentary category, and no. 5 among all DVD’s sold by the online retailer.
The film — based on the book by the same name (covered extensively on TheBlaze Books) – which goes on sale October 28, includes over 40 minutes of additional footage including interviews with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and liberal activist Ward Churchill.
D’Souza, who was sentenced in September to eight months in a community confinement center, five years probation, one day of community service per week during that probation, and ordered to pay $30,000 for breaking campaign finance law during the 2012 election, in a decision that he contends was politically motivated, stated:
To some degree I am restricted in my movements and am in captivity, but my message is in the America film where it speaks for me. I can think of no better motivator in this crucial year than to watch this film and share it with people they know.
The producer of the film, Gerald Molen, added:
Making this movie was a joy and I’m delighted to hear that it is doing so well even before its release.

Los Angeles (October 27, 1014) – America: Imagine the World Without Her, written by Dinesh D’Souza, directed by John Sullivan and produced by veteran Schindler’s List producer Gerald R Molen, continues to surprise after becoming Amazon’s top selling DVD, a week before release. The film recently completed its theatrical run, earning $14.4 million at the box office making it the #6 political documentary of all time. The film will be released on DVD and BluRay October 28th with over 40 minutes of additional footage including interviews with Ted Cruz, POW John Fer, liberal activist Ward Churchill, and conservative activist Star Parker. The film comes to home entertainment at a difficult time for its writer/director who is unable to travel to promote the film as a result of pleading guilty in a case related to his exceeding campaign donation limits for a friend who ran for the U.S. Senate in New York.
“To some degree I am restricted in my my movements and am in captivity but my message is in the America film and it speaks for me. I can think of no better motivator in this crucial year than to watch this film and share it with people they know.”
“We are very excited to continue to hear about the great reception,” said Sullivan. “It’s great to hear our message resonates with so many across the country.”
The film, based of D’Souza’s New York Times bestseller by the same name, received a rare A+ CinemaScore, putting it along side movies such as Titanic, Toy Story 2, The King’s Speech, and others.
“Making this movie was a joy and I’m delighted to hear that it is doing so well even before its release,” added producer Gerald Molen.
With re-creations of important moments in history combined with interviews with some of her harshest present-day critics, America: Imagine The World Without Her explains what made America great and defends her against the narrative that she has been a force for evil in the world.
