Glenn Beck: Why Is Costco Removing D'Souza's Books?

Originally published at

Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza’s latest book, America: Imagine A World Without Her, is set to debut on the New York Times best seller list next week, and the film version of the book opened in theaters to critical acclaim last week. Despite the success, one major retailer has chosen to pull the book from its shelves.

According to WND, Costco, the second largest retailer in the United States, is removing D’Souza’s latest work from its retail outposts. Costco has sold more than 3,600 copies of America nationwide, with about 700 copies sold last week. As of July 15, however, the book will no longer be on the shelves, after a “pull-order” was issued.

“This is amazing,” Glenn said exasperatedly.

WND spoke to Costco’s chief financial officer Richard Galanti who confirmed the pull order was made. According to an editor’s note on the WND article, the CFO couldn’t quite explain the decision:

Late Monday night, after this story was published, Costco Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti telephoned WND and confirmed the pull order. He insisted the order was not political and was based only on sales. He said Costco’s policy is to market books that show up on the New York Times bestseller list. However, he could not explain why Costco began selling the book before it made the list, and, now that it is scheduled to debut on the list next week following release of the film, why it is being pulled. He promised he would investigate further and report back to WND before the end of business Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Costco Facebook post seemed to blame the book’s removal on sales figures:

Lincoln united his party and saved America from the Democrats for the first time. Can Trump—and we—come together and save America for the second time?
