America isn’t a one-weekend wonder.

The new docudrama, from the team behind 2016: Obama’s America, earned an A+ rating from CinemaScore during its debut weekend July 4-6.

Today, Box Office Mojo said the film enjoyed a “fantastic” second weekend: Dinesh D’Souza’s America (2014) had a fantastic hold this weekend. The documentary eased 11 percent to $2.45 million; to date, its earned $8.3 million.”

The film scored the fifth highest per-screen average of any movie over the weekend, and it unseated Michael Moore’s Roger & Me on the list of top grossing political documentaries in just two weekends. America currently holds the seventh slot in that category.

Dinesh D’Souza’s book of the same name also is enjoying a blast of synergy. It’s currently the top-selling book at online powerhouse

The movie takes on liberal arguments against both the country’s earliest years and its history of so-called imperialism.

“America loves America and I couldn’t be more proud or happy about it,” declared producer Gerald Molen said in a statement. “We look forward to another great week at the box office as Americans continue to discover this beautiful film.”

I saw the movie last week 7/10/14 and it was fantastic, thank you for the hard work you and everyone involved put in this movie, “America”. I must admit, there were parts I had a hard time holding back the tears. It was moving, informative, and helped put together pieces of history my friend and I. I have been encouraging others to see it and know of another 9-people who will watch this movie this week 7/16/14 in the local Century Clackamas Theather. Thanks for all you do for our great country we call “America” Mr. D’Souza and crew!!! 🙂

Started reading the book and knew I had to see the movie. Saw it last weekend and will pay to watch it again this weekend! The movie is a very well done work of art. Thanks Dinesh. Please read the book as it goes into a lot more depth and detail. Both are money VERY well spent. You heard about the COSTCO nonsense? So, I walk into my local Barnes and Noble and notice that ‘America’ is not with the rest of the current bestsellers (Hillary – HAHAHA!). I had to ask the store associate where I could find it. He said: “Oh, it’s back there in the Current Events section.” Go figure.
