"America" Reaches #1 On NYT Best Seller List

Dinesh D’Souza’s publisher at Regnery notified him on July 31 that America: Imagine A World Without Her would appear at #1 on the next New York Times best seller list.

Before moving the book to #2 earlier this month, the New York Times was accused of playing politics with the best seller list by omitting America despite its rise to #1 on Amazon’s best seller list. Even after the book hit #2, many argued that it should have been at #1 long before now.

In America: Imagine A World Without Her, D’Souza offers a passionate and sharply reasoned defense of America, knocking down every important accusation made by Progressives against our country.

Is America a source of pride, as Americans have long held, or shame, as Progressives allege? Beneath an innocent exterior, are our lives complicit in a national project of theft, expropriation, oppression, and murder, or is America still the hope of the world?

These questions are no mere academic exercise. It is the Progressive view that is taught in our schools, that is preached by Hollywood, and that shapes the policies of the Obama administration. If America is a force for inequality and injustice in the world, its power deserves to be diminished; if traditional America is based on oppression and theft, then traditional America must be reformed—and the federal government can do the reforming.

Provocative in its analysis, stunning in its conclusions, D’Souza’s America will be the most talked about book of the year.

Available now, Dinesh D’Souza’s new book United States of Socialism reveals modern-day socialism as a “identity socialism.” Who is behind it, why is it evil, and how can we stop it?

Mr. D’souza I have both read the book and seen the movie. Very well done and clearly stated. I have read opposing responses in u.s. news as well as several other publications and they all lacked a counter argument that could stand. Moreover they merely restated the same argument statement you presented and used that as their rebuttal.
I do take up an issue with your book. On pages 225 and 226 you concede it seems to government subsidized health insurance and a “floor” for taxation. My argument would be we should have no floor since b politics will lead us to the very same position we are at now. Everyone pays regardless. Often fire under one’s feet is the necessary motivation.
Regarding govt subsidized health insurance for a safety net I argue no. It does not benefit society. It is another form of welfare. The govt has its foot in the door of our life with that policy and we see currently where that leads. I and my wife have provided our own safety nets and retirement plans. I am a mechanic and she an office manager. Big money has not touched us but regular sustained invested income has from our efforts. I believe others can do this.

Thank you for your wonderful book and movie. I live in Northern Kentucky and the theaters in our area only had them for a short time. I wish you could bring them back. It was very inspiring! Everyone should see your movie and read the book.
God bless you and thank you again!!!

I bought two of your books “America”. I am having my niece in SC do a book report on this book to encourage her to read and learn during her summer break from school. The other book is for me and my husband to read. We saw the movie and enjoyed it very much.

Frank Capra’s classic 1946 movie “It’s A Wonderful Life” has a profound spiritual lesson: What if America had never been born?

What would the world be like if Columbus had not reached the West Indies?

What would the world be like if the Pilgrims had not reached Massachusetts and the Eastern seaboard colonies had never been established?

What would the world be like if our War for Independence had not been fought?

What would the world be like if our Founders had not produced the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution?

What would the world be like if American explorers and pioneers had not opened up the West?

Would Planet Earth and its peoples be better or worse today if all that were erased from history?

To me, the answer is clear: worse—far worse. Why? Because of the self-evident truth that Divine Providence was behind the creation of America—and still is. Our Founders also referred to that self-evident truth as the Creator, Nature’s God, Supreme Judge of the world, Governor of the universe and Spirit of Liberty. They saw that God has a plan for the human race based on enlightened living—that is, living in accord with the ideals, principles and values which are the essence of the American Spirit. God’s plan involves establishing conditions which will lead, across centuries and through later generations, to the kingdom of heaven on earth. Heaven on earth results from living in a God-centered manner; hell on earth results from living in a self-centered manner. But “God so loved the world” that he gave us the freedom to choose either one.

Some have obviously chosen the path of self-centeredness—not the enlightened self-interest of the Golden Rule which improves society but the aggrandizing self-interest of gold-plated rulers which destroys society. They have departed from the path of righteousness and spiritual unfoldment which leads to heaven on earth and taken the path of iniquitous self-glorification which leads to hell on earth.

Centuries ago the continent of North America became the stage for a new act in the drama of humanity’s release from the slavery of self-centeredness into a wonderfully new estate—spiritual freedom and a God-centered global society. The opening scene was the settlement of the continent, beginning with Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. Shortly thereafter the Pilgrims established themselves at Plymouth, Massachusetts. And in 1630, John Winthrop, governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, led his band of Puritans to the site which would become Boston, a few miles north of their neighbors at Plymouth. In a sermon written while their ship, the Arbella, was crossing the Atlantic, Winthrop told his settlers to behave with charity and decency for the success of the wilderness community they would build. “…we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and a by-word through the world.”

The second scene was set In 1776, when a group of 56 courageous men met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, risking death by their action—called treason by King George III and Parliament—of separating from their oppressive motherland. The Declaration of Independence brought forth a new nation, under God, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all people are created equal. John Adams, at the Continental Congress there, wrote to his wife Abigail at home in Massachusetts:

I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure that it will cost us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the gloom I can see rays of ravishing light and glory. I can see that the end is worth more than all the means.

America emerged as the leading edge of that millennia-long worldwide process by which God is bringing humanity to an exalted state, step by evolutionary step, act by act through history until one day in a distant future, all people will have attained a personal and societal condition of godlike stature, albeit humbly surrendered to God in recognition of the gift of life and the grace—the unmerited favor and love—which sustains us day by day, moment by moment, in the grand ascent of humanity to full awareness of the power and the light and the glory of the Divine Intelligence behind all the cosmos.

Mr D’Souza, I was listening to the radio a couple of weeks ago and was listening to your comments on the Marc Levine show. Well I would like to analyze a few things. First I wanrt to tell you that I am neither republican or democrat. You were talking with Marc Levine and saying how bad the president is and you were criticizing him and disrespecting him. Youhave absolutely no right to criticize the president especially you being a foreigner from the worst place on earth India. You are not in any position to criticize any one being from India. I saw both of your movies and both were mediocre at best. What I suggest you do is to make a documentary about your filthy and corrupted country of India. You need to concentrate on how India is hell on eart with so much filth, corruption and how awfull India is. Make a documentary about how rapes are done every 5 minutes in India. That’s what you need to concentrate on and stop worrying about president Obama. Tell us how unsafe India is and how bad basic necessity are ad how the sewer system is. I am a foreigner myself from France and now being in the USA from 30 years and I love America because it’s the best country in the world but I never criticize the president no matter who he is republican or democrat. Show some respect and remember where you come from(the filthiest place on earth). I know that you made your documentary just to make some money. Again concentrate on exposing how awfull India is and show the president some resect.
