YoungCons: Blacks Help White Business Owners in Ferguson

Originally published at Young Conservatives.

Regardless of skin color, I think it’s safe to say that most people agree that looting businesses and burning them to the ground is a pretty poor way to make a point.

In fact, it often has the opposite effect intended, causing the very racism and unfairness being complained about to become more deeply ingrained in society.

Fortunately, there are still tons of decent people left in the world who put color aside and focus on doing what’s right, such as these black residents in Ferguson who came to the rescue of white business owners in the area, helping to protect their property.

From Opposing Views:

The white-owned Conoco gas station has remained open, though, because a group of male black Ferguson residents are keeping guard. Derrick Johnson, a 6-foot-8 man, held an AR-15 assault rifle as he stood in a pickup truck near the station’s convenience store entrance. Three other men joined Johnson, each armed with pistols. The men said they are protecting the store out of respect for the white owner, Doug Merello, who employed them over the course of several years, reports Inquisitr. According to R.J., the men have chased away several groups of teenagers that were rampaging through the area.

This is an awesome display of the kind of unity that this country needs much more of.

What these citizens are doing transcends color and focus on right and wrong. It’s wrong to destroy the property of others and to take what doesn’t belong to you, regardless of whether or not the reason for your anger is justified.

We can only hope there are more folks like Johnson out there who are willing to look beyond superficial things like race and focus on doing good things for others.

Now let’s see….I wonder if Obama, Sharpton, Holder or any of the usual suspects will commend these people and acknowledge them as examples to be followed not only by black, but all people. My money is on “no”, and we all know why.

The point of black helping white is a headline but the real story here is doing the right thing. The fact remains as I watched blacks destroy their own town we have work to do as a society. I wish they were better educated, my educated friends of various colors looked on in disbelief, as most of us.

I am sure that there are more young folks who are doing good deeds, but why doesn’t
The press cover their feats. My heart bled when I saw the flag being burned.
Hoping we will all be a contented nation someday soon.

Not to be a party pooper on all the good vibes going around.

A little late, don’t you think? The looting is over. In the end the hoodlums got what they wanted, the resignation of a police officer who will never be able to find work in his field ever again. So the looters won, they got what they wanted. So the anger is dissipated and the looting stops… — Tell me I’m wrong —

Please, let’s not be naive to think that all the looting just stopped all because these brave men (and they ARE brave men) decided to stand in the gap with the white business owners. Yes its a great thing.

Now, do I applaud what these guys did? You bet. Chalk one up for biblical manhood. Okay. I’m not a cynic, I’m just trying to look at things fairly.

To the questions I see on here about the Obama administration and left wing media not making more of this.
I suspect they are holding back because they don’t want to encourage citizen vigilantism at the border or the whole citizen soldier thing. They don’t want that either.

    @ Chris.
The vigilantes were the mobs roaming the streets invoking their idea of justice, which is a form of anarchy where the marauders pillage and burn for thrills and vengeance. There would have been a lynching had they caught up with Officer Wilson.

Thank you Derrick Johnson and friends for using what you have to help your community – your height (6ft 8- given to you by God), the ammunition and guns (the Obama administration was unable as yet to confiscate from you), and your intelligence to see right from wrong. You acted on your convictions to protect your community. You know this is not about skin color. It is about destroying other citizens lives, destroying our Constitution, overthrowing our government and our way of life. Outside agitation sent from federal government to incite riots destroyed your town. You stood up to them by your actions and I applaud you!

Using skin color to justify looting, stealing, killing, burning the American flag at home, when our military made up of Americans of all races and colors, is putting their lives in harms way every day overseas to protect the very freedom people have to protest at home is despicable.

Thank You Dinesh for informing us about the good deeds of Americans. Power held by individual citizens doing the right thing, on whom our nation was founded, rather than the power of government force inciting riots. The Derrick Johnsons of the world are our real heros. He used his anger about what he saw happening in his community as a positive force. Think of how great Ferguson could be for individuals and families to grow and work and live in if looters would direct their rage/anger to building rather than destroying their Ferguson neighborhood.

I pray for innocent people who worked hard to build their community, who owned businesses in Ferguson, whose lives have been shattered. It wasn’t about color. It was about destroying our court system designed for the innocent to be innocent until proven guilty. It was about criminals gaining control. The police officer who tried to protect his community acted in self defense. His life will never be the same. Where would our nation be without our police force to protect the innocent from the kind of activity that occurred in Ferguson? A black lady whose business was destroyed was weeping on TV. Looters didn’t care whether businesses were owned by black or white. They had an alternative agenda, and used the situation in Ferguson to loot and get rich quick! Then burn the place down. Criminals. Keep shining through the darkness Derrick Johnson and friends. Keep being a role model for youngsters. You are making a positive difference for ALL society.

Good for these guys. I wonder where the white and black news people are? Why aren’t they covering this? It seems that some good people and even an “evil” AR-15 stopped some looters from destroying another innocent business.

Thank you so much for sharing this story, it is so unfortunate that the main stream media does not show this and continues to sell racism and division in our country. God Bless these men…
