Newsmax: D'Souza Debates David Swerdlick, Has No Apologies for Obama Tweet

Originally posted at Newsmax.

A verbal slugfest erupted on Newsmax TV’s The Steve Malzberg Show Thursday as African-American columnist David Swerdlick sparred with conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, calling President Barack Obama a “boy out of the ghetto.”

D’Souza, a longtime critic of Obama, tweeted about him earlier this week with the headline, “You can take the boy out of the ghetto…”

The quote accompanied a photo of Obama taking a selfie of himself in the White House, and was followed by, “Watch this vulgar man show his stuff, while America cowers in embarrassment.”

The tweet prompted outrage from some who thought it was racist.

D’Souza, who issued several follow-up tweets to clarify his Obama remarks, denied there was any racist intent. And he told Steve Malzberg there would be “no apologies.”

Swerdlick, an editor and columnist at the African-American news site TheRoot.com, wasn’t impressed.

He told D’Souza, “On its face the tweet makes two references that could clearly be seen as trying to underscore President Obama’s race.”

I see no reason to apologize for telling the truth.

FYI – W/R to Obama’s claim that Muslims have been a part of American history from the beginning, he’s correct. But it was NOT in a good way. Still, I am sure Obama would have approved.

Have you noticed that liberals tend to make stories out of nothing to detract from the true stories? Chapel Hill, were Swerdlick was located, is a center of liberalism. The University there (UNC) has recently been found to use African American Studies as a front for giving atheletes college credit they did not earn. Thank God for Dinesh and his intelligent rebutal to supposedly educated liberal rants. God Bless America.

Oh Dinesh, you are right again and again. If you have to explain this to David, all is lost. He’s a liberal and wants to try and explain the crap of the left. I tire of stupid people.

Once and for all, can we please clarify the definition of ‘racist’ — it is: “expressing the belief that one race is superior to another.” That’s it – that’s all there is. Insulting one person of a race does not insult all people of that race. Pointing out particular characteristics of a race is not racist if it is an expression of fact. Commenting on where someone grew up is not racist — it is geography. Mentioning someone or identifying them by race, it not racist — it is description. And as for Dinesh’s comments, we all know that there are vulgar people of every race, religion and nationality — the one we have in the White House right now just happens to be black, but there have been others before him who were white; boorish behavior is no respector of race or office, sadly.

Dinesh made no quams about the idea that it was a “put-down” and a well-deserved one. If you really want to know about racism in 2015, spend some time reading the articles at Root.com – and the deeply disturbing comments they inspire. These so-called “liberals” who spew racial contempt at every turn are effectively a new generation Nazi’s. I’ve spent 30 on the Left, on the front lines of what is called “social justice” and all I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Dinesh D’souza for standing up to these progressive bullies.

So what was the point of the rebuttal? Wasted media time spent on another hollow liberal semantics that truly detract away from the truth. What is that big brown smudge on Swerdlicks mouth and face? Oh I guess it’s crap?

Just like Dinesh said….If he had said about Bush….”You can take the boy out of texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the boy”, to liberals that you NEVER spark a comment! Can you spell HYPOCRITE?
