My God, how attorneys are long-winded! 22 pages of rambling on & on. All of this could have been condensed into about 3-5 pages. As for the statement at the end, I’m not sure if “uh” is a word, but I really don’t know the relevance of it all. The charges against D’Souza amount to hogwash. It’s only obvious that Mr. Obama had a real hard-on for this man after D’Souza made that movie about him. The Obama administration’s scandals cover-ups compare with Bill Clinton’s. The only reason Obama hasn’t been impeached is because he is the nation’s 1st Black President. I wish there had been an investigation into the FBI scandal on the same level as Watergate. Another thing, how can Mr. Obama get away with charging $36,000 per plate for a meal? Answer: Loopholes in the campaign funding laws.

The scum libtraitors have done their level best to destroy this man. This is the best possible outcome. I guess the judge was able to see through Holders bs, and realized that this was a political hit job courtesy of Okeyan and scum traitor Holder. #dncmafia

  • Peaches57 says:

    September 23, 2014 at 2:39 PM

I’m glad that you aren’t going to jail; but really, the judge should have nullified the entire case due to the prosecution’s gross mismanagement of the case, repetitive lies and misapprehensions, and obvious attempts to falsify documents, and thereby manipulate the proceedings for political, not lawful and legal, reasons..

I guess we’ll take what we can get, and be glad that it is no worse; but, still…

Oh, and Nelson, you’re wrong – the two reasons Obama hasn’t been impeached is that 1) the entire “Impeachment!” cry from any members of Congress has been a lying manipulation of public opinion with clearly NO desire to even attempt to enforce the Constitution, nor cut off their contributors’ lobbyist money, and 2) “Shotgun Joe” Biden as President would be an even worse horror than Obama.

  • Anna Soltani says:

  • Victor says:

    September 23, 2014 at 2:44 PM

Well, five years probation, and 8 months in a half-way house is no light penalty to pay.

Perhaps Dinesh can answer this – is it true what the judge read from the correspondence that the court received, that Dinesh forged his wife’s signature on campaign disclosure documents, and also assaulted her? OMG…conservative soldier or not, illegal and bad behavior is illegal and bad behavior.

Dinesh I am thrilled that you are not going to jail. My two greatest wishes during the past year or so were (1) that you did not get jail time and (2) Obama would resign. At least YOU came through for me!

Please don’t listen to those that want you to appeal. Prosecution would love it. Because if you lost the appeal, which is likely since you pled guilty, you would get jail time. They will have their vengeance.

Just keep on doing what you have been doing to inform America of the Fundamental Transformation of America we did not ask for or want, that has been shoved down our throats by Obama and the Demon-Crats

We are a land of laws except when it comes to the Left.

  • Frank Washek says:

  • Janice says:

    September 23, 2014 at 4:33 PM

What exactly did the term “confinement” refer to that was mentioned in some liberal rag? Was it just a distortion of fact to confuse matters? That would be par for the course for the liberal progressive propaganda machine.

  • Chris says:

    September 23, 2014 at 5:20 PM

We are living Atlas Shrugged without John Gault or those who would leave rather than be part of this horror show. Justice has become a coincidence or a fluke. As happy as I am that Mr. D’Souza isn’t being put in prison for 2 years, no one should celebrate too much: this is only one small skirmish in a war against humanity.

  • sucra says:

    September 23, 2014 at 5:21 PM

i had to look up what a community confiinement center was. i guess it’s a halfway house, which i thought was for drug addicts and people being released from prison. is dinesh going to have to sleep in a house with arsonists and junkies for eight months? do they assign you to one near your home somewhere in your state and what time is check-in, check-out every day? is mtv going to try to get the rights to air it as their next reality tv show? my advice: no more fund raisers for 5 years, don’t check into the halfway house after curfew, don’t miss any appointments with the parole officer, and watch out for frank marshal davis disciples trying to set you up and get your parole revoked. didn’t obama get like 10’s of millions of dollars in campaign contributions in small amounts from overseas accounts? remember al gore’s budhist temple fund raiser?

  • Nicki says:

    September 23, 2014 at 5:26 PM

Still way too much punishment. The Dems seem to go unpunished for their extremely serious crimes, Corizine, Menendez, etc., but they use their muscle to condemn and unjustly lean on members of the opposing party. I have to believe all their dirty laundry will eventually come out and they will be shamed and shunned. No party stays in power forever; eventually they pay the piper. Keep the faith, Mr. D’Souza. You are a real and morally good personl

  • Chris Martin says:

    September 23, 2014 at 5:34 PM

Probation, not really. Here’s what Reuters is reporting:

“(Reuters) – Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza avoided prison on Tuesday when a U.S. judge sentenced him to serve eight months in a community confinement center after he pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance law.

D’Souza, 53, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Richard Berman in Manhattan to live in a center, which would allow him to leave during non-residential hours for employment, for the first eight months of a five-year probationary period.

Berman also ordered D’Souza to perform one day of community service a week during probation, undergo weekly therapy and pay a $30,000 fine.”

I thought the sentence was abnormally harsh, especially for a first time offender and does what the Democrats wanted, which was to take Dinesh out of circulation until after the election…. the judge was obviously influenced by someone in the Democratic Party. I personally am very unhappy with the sentencing… perhaps the judge should issue a bench warrant for Harry Reid for his campaign violations whereupon he was given a wink-wink and a pass…. the sentence is a travesty IMO.

  • Alec says:

    September 23, 2014 at 6:45 PM

These comments are unreal. And a sad commentary on American life. A crime was committed. A guilty plea accepted. A sentenced handed out. Mr. D’Souza gave money to a candidate to increase her prospects of winning. The candidate apparently asked Mr. D’Souza many times if the contributors had the means to make such large contributions. His response was that they did. The truth is, they did not, and Mr. D’Souza’s intent was to reimburse them after the election, thus breaking a law that goes to the heart of our democracy. He committed a fraud and you all think there is some kind of honor in that. Go figure?

Where is the true patriotism in that?
    Where is the integrity?
Where is the witch-hunt by the U.S. Attorney’s Office or for that matter, the White House? There’s only one person responsible in this matter, and that’s Mr. D’Souza. He has said so himself, so why are all of you praising him?

  • Loretta in Indiana says:

    September 23, 2014 at 6:48 PM

Mr. D’Souza — Thank you for being a patriot.

I am currently reading your book, “The End of Racism” (which was written back in 1995) — it was recommended and lent to me by my son-in-law. Very insightful history and conclusions. Thank you for being fearless all through the years.

  • Terri says:

    September 23, 2014 at 7:04 PM

Wow at the facts brought forth! Could our current administration be anymore transparent in this matter? Quite a showing of force, err farce on their behalf. Couldn’t be happier for the outcome though Dinesh! Now, stay out of trouble. We need you!

  • Stephenie says:

    September 23, 2014 at 7:50 PM

You are a great patriot and person. You admit you were wrong and were willing to take your punishment. We are not dumb. We know this goes on all the time. Of course if you are a liberal you get to slide or more likely it’s never known. The Government was on a witch hunt as they many times have been.
Alec says anyone praising you is wrong. Maybe he’s a liberal hating all conservatives or maybe he’s just clueless. I assume he didn’t even read this or he would understand the truth. I wonder how much jail time he would give Obama and his cohorts who have committed far more grevious acts than you.

  • Shirley says:

    September 23, 2014 at 8:01 PM

I read two of your books and watched both movies – 2016 and America…very well done and informative and you echoed what i have been seeing and learning about the current administration. Since i am an older American and cannot climb to the top of a mountain and loudly proclaim we need new leadership in Congress and the White House i am happy that you have done it in a clever and insightful way for me.. For that i thank you! I am a Navy veteran and i love my country but not what the so called leadership in the White House and Congress are doing. All i see is angry discourse and trying to one up each other with no accomplishments among them i call helpful to the ones who elected them. Please keep trying to stop the insanity. I am happy you are free now to continue your valiant efforts.

Freedom as America knows it could be gone soon if something isn’t done. Again thank you for caring and trying. Bless you

Glad to see the results. This man is honorable. He made a mistake. We have politicians making even bigger mistakes with no action. The court got this right. He should never have gone to jail. Thank you for the movies and bools that lay out what is happening to our great country.

  • Gwen says:

    September 23, 2014 at 9:31 PM

    Where is the integrity?….indeed.
    Alec’s comments are noted.
I hope he holds our President to the same standard…but I doubt it.
I would like Alec to state that he denounces the lies that the President told about Benghazi, to the American people at large, to the loved ones of those killed, and to the World when speaking at the United Nations weeks later that a You-tube video caused a spontaneous riot.

  • Alec says:

    September 24, 2014 at 12:12 AM

I’m an independent. I think Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife should have gotten significantly longer prison terms for violating the people’s trust. I think former President Clinton lied to the American people when he said he did not have sex with Monica, BUT I do believe it was a non-impeachable offense. I think the former governor from Virginia raised a stupid defense, and basically threw his wife and family under the bus.

I believe President Bush certainly lied to the American people too regarding weapons of mass destruction that got us into two wars where thousands have lost their lives NEEDLESSLY. I do not think he should go to jail for that.

I believe Benghazi was handled terribly, falsehoods were told and as a result, people died. However, until we know all the facts which I hope we will learn through the various investigative reports and congressional hearings, I withhold my judgment regarding who dropped the ball, though, at the end of the day, our current President is responsible.

Only one of you has admitted that D’Souza made a mistake! That he broke the law. The rest of you sing his praises by calling him honorable, a patriot, a great man. You all can’t really be that misinformed. The more appropriate term is “ignorant,” but I do not want to offend anyone here.I

No, my fellow Americans, he intentionally broke the law. He’s not some poor bloke trying to get by. He is the recipient of a stellar education. He’s suppose to be smart. But he’s not really.

He purposefully attempted to circumvent the democratic process you all seem to hold so dear. He tried to give an ex-girlfriend a ton of money so he could give a former female classmate from Dartmouth financial advantage in an election. Apparently, both women recognized his sleaziness and turned him in, or else they would have both kept quiet and it would have been business as usual. I applaud them for doing the RIGHT thing! There’s no government overreach here.

D’Souza got caught doing what a lot of men do for self-aggrandizement sake. Give money to women for, I suspect, some future benefit. Plain and simple! Hard to believe, but true. He admitted that what he did was stupid. It was, and in this case, it was also a felony.

“Stay as you are,” “You are an exemplary American.” No, ladies and gentlemen, he’s a crook, now a convicted crook. He is not exemplary by any stretch of the imagination.

Open your Eyes, this is not about being conservative or liberal, right or left, republican or democrat. Write more books, produce more movies about what you think is wrong in this country. I completely support your right to do so. But don’t try to buy elections for your friends while at the same time disparaging the party in the White House. Don’t disparage the prosecutors for doing their jobs in bringing a case against you. If someone hurt one of your family members or defrauded you in some scheme, you would expect nothing less than an aggressive prosecution.

D’Souza screwed up! He tried to circumvent an election. If he had the power, and believe me, 20 Grand buys a lot of favors, many of you might very well be in his sights. Don’t let someone pee on your leg and tell you its raining. D’Souza only cares about D’Souza.

  • Carole says:

    September 24, 2014 at 12:18 AM

Maybe he read an article from the mainstream media, as well? I think an educated voter wouldn’t miss the fine, but simple, points your brief made, like Alec apparently did. Small wonder so many were led to help put what I see as the worse administration we’ve very probably ever had into power in Washington.

It’s scary to see so much hero-worship of a philanderer and perennial liar. It also scares me that anyone is persuaded by D’souza’s rhetoric.

Dinesh – I am excited that you will be teaching English learners. I taught them at the junior high and high school levels for about 18 years – learned my methods as an exchange teacher in the German system back in the early days of my career. The way English learners are being taught today is sad – too much native language and too little grammar. I found that my students needed a lot of practice using irregular verbs. After retiring, I wrote the book “Structured English Immersion” (Corwin Press, 2002) and more recently “English for the Children: Mandated by the People, Skewed by Politicians and Special Interests” (Rowman & Littlefield, 2013). I would be glad to send you the latter. You may be inspired to write/produce another book and/or movie. I would not be surprised.

Poor, poor Alec. Fooling no one with his “I’m an independant” lies.

    Please answer this, Alec:
Do you believe that Bill Clinton was lying when he said this?:

“One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass
destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”
    President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998.

    and this

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously
diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
    President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998.

Was Nancy Pelosi lying when she said this?

“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction
technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the
    weapons inspection process.”
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

Was Al Gore lying when he said this?

“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his
    Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.

    and this

“Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should
assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.”
    Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.

Was John Kerry lying when he said this?

“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if
necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of
mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
    Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002.

Will you be supporting Hillary Clinton when she’s on record telling these “lies”?

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has
worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his
nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda
members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his
capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear

Thanks, Gwen, and Jeff, for saying what I was thinking about Alec’s remarks. Dinesh, you did indeed have an excellent attorney, who managed to speak for all Americans while defending you. On my prayer list for tonight: Now that Judge Berman wouldn’t be sullying his objectivity by reading your book, I pray that God leads him to read it, better yet, listen to it in audio, which really worked for me. It’s a fabulous lesson in the market economy, at a very elemental level by design. I have Masters in Public Management and Financial Management, and it was a great reinforcement of the essentials of economics in the market, and in the personal experience, as well as a short course in political science, American History and sociology. I think it can help undue a lot of damaging indoctrination, and foster critical thinking in young adults. Liberty and justice and the rule of law are treasures to us, not mere buzz words for the achievement of partisan hegemony. I still think your sentence was harsh, but, I choose to accept it as you have, and truly believe that in God’s wisdom, you will serve liberty and justice through it in ways that will astound. Keep thinking, ‘Amazing grace’, as all of your brothers and sisters do. God Bless you.

    Last word:

It’s good that I’ve got some of you, at least thinking of ways to worm around the issues by making outlandish comparisons and baseless remarks. Thinking is Good!

    I am not clueless.

Mr. D’Souza is not an elected official, He’s an author, movie producer and very poor example of an American citizen. Yes, I said it. And deep down you all know its true. That’s why not a single one of you has addressed the fact that he admitted his wrongdoing AND the harm his actions would cause our system of democracy if others followed his actions. Not a single one of you!

He’s no hero – he’s a CRIMINAL. He’s no patriot – He devised a scheme to circumvent the democratic process by TRYING TO HIDE THE SOURCE OF CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS, and he got caught! (So he’s not so bright either — His friends turned him in for Pete’s sake!) He said he didn’t know what he was doing. Really? — This Dartmouth grad, author, political activist!

    He didn’t know. RIGHT!

Stick to the facts. Stick to the issue here. Stick to the case-at-hand. Why all this Godly praise and hero worship? Read his books. Yes. Become informed listeners. Yes. Think critically as the writer above suggests. Yes. But don’t fool yourselves into believing D’Souza did no wrong.

    On another note:

Did he have a good attorney? Absolutely!

Had he not plead guilty would he most likely have received jail time? Absolutely!

So, who do you think advised him to take the plea? His attorney of course.

How do I know this? Because I work in the system and have been on both sides of the fence.

This is how our system works. Thank God for our criminal justice system! Thank God!

I will continue to lift you in prayer and God’s hand will remain over you, as His protection and peace reign on us all. In Christ. Much love dear brother.

Why can he not be a patriot and a person who made a mistake. Are we expected to be perfect and if not we are useless or dismissed as hypocritical? The Christian faith and I suspect other faiths and positive philosophies admit to human error(even a criminal error) while still acknowledging a persons ‘net’ worth. Was Reagan a failure because of Iran Contra? Roosevelt useless because he had an affair? etc etc

RE Alec, September 23, 2014 at 6:45 pm:

Re “These comments are unreal. And a sad commentary on American life. A crime was committed. A guilty plea accepted. A sentenced handed out. …. Where is the true patriotism in that?”

+++ Alec, you ask where is the patriotism? I shall explain it to you. Just as the law does not always encapsulate the moral right/wrong, it does not what is patriotic/un-patriotic. Likewise the Patriotism of Dinesh being spoken of is not encapsulated in the act for which he admitted guilt under the law. So I ask you, what is more unreal, more sad a commentary on American life; the comments of those supporting someone they believe to be a Patriot for the patriotic things he has done, or the comment of one man who not only does not understand the distinction they see but also is unable to acknowledge the distinction of law and patriotism?

Re “And a sad commentary on American life. A crime was committed. … Where is the integrity?”

+++ Integrity of whom? Can there ever be true justice when only the integrity of the accused held up to the light of critique and not the system of search, prosecution, and judgment? Does a blindfolded judicial system of integrity, not acting out of political passion order re-education? Is it by chance re-education has been a favorite sentence lying at the core of tyrannical governments such as the Soviet Union, Red China, and N. Korea? Or are re-education punishments political only when including a camp?

Is it really the comments that are unreal and a sad commentary on American life, or is it the attack of political intolerance for repugnant ideologies manifest in a judiciary imposing re-education?

Or does evil manifest only when camps are erected?

So let me see if I can understand. Dinesh is now a convicted felon. Is that correct? Yet he is free to try to explain the exceptionalism of America , especially the fact that our southerners were really trying to help their Black slaves and that they really meant no harm at all.

    Is that correct?
