Filmmaker and author Dinesh D’Souza said the violent protesters who donned masks and set fires at the University of California-Berkeley are an example of a “terrorist element on campus.”
D’Souza said such “storm troopers” are a militant way of driving out dissent; in this week’s case, the conservative viewpoint of Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos.
On campus, there’s a sense that students need a safe space; or a place to be free from dissenting views, D’Souza said, “they want the whole campus to be a ‘safe space’.”
“It’s not that [college students] reject conservatism, they’re not even exposed to it,” he said.
D’Souza said many liberals are upset because President Trump won by the “rules of the game”, so protesters have chosen to obstruct the New York Republican’s agenda in several ways: a situation he called “absurd.”
