Last month, conservative activist Dinesh D’Souza, released Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party. The American political documentary film covers Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and examines the history of the Democratic Party.
Since the public release of the film on July 22, it has received mass amounts of attention, accompanied by mixed reviews.
For example, the film only received a 4% rating by the film critics on Rotten Tomatoes. But it received an 84% positive response in audience reviews.
Despite all this, the film has had groundbreaking results. According to The Hollywood Reporter, D’Souza’s film has become the highest-grossing documentary of 2016. Just five days after its release, the documentary made over $5 million.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Pamela McClintock stated:
“That’s the best showing of any documentary since Amy Winehouse doc Amy earned $8.2 million following its release on July 3, 2015. And among 2016 docs, Hillary’s America easily trumps the $4.1 million grossed by Imax documentary A Beautiful Planet and the $3.8 million grossed by Michael Moore’s Where to Invade Next.”
Many who have seen the video took to social media calling the movie a “must see” for anyone who plans on voting in the upcoming election:
If you haven't seen Hillarys America yet, YOU MUST!! Get the facts and be an educated voter. Thank you @DineshDSouza for an excellent film!
